Anna is a senior in high school. She enjoys creative activities like painting, drawing,   ceramics, and photography. She loves to work hard, have fun, and continuously laugh. Anna joined WOW Farm because she finds gardening and farming to be a stress reliever and a good workout. She is excited to graduate as class of 2013!

MeixinMeixin is a senior in high school. She immigrated to the U.S. from China in 2010. Her interests include cooking, hiking, and playing badminton.  Working at WOW Farm brings back memories of her family farm in China. She likes the job even though she has to take two busses to get to the farm!

ayanaAyana is fifteen years old. She advocates for health equity and food justice, and joins programs that promote a positive change in the community. Ayana says gardening and working on a urban farm has changed her life!

Ronajean

Ronajean, high school senior, was born in the Philippines. She has lived in Oakland since she came to the States at the age of six. She likes being outside in nature because it calms her down. At WOW Farm, she brings hard work and strong effort in properly growing plants. She can’t wait to graduate as class of 2013!

Ershell

Ershell is a seventeen-year-old who has lived in Oakland all his life. He likes football, basketball, music, and eating.

Donnell is from Oakland. He is an outgoing person who loves to workout and play football and basketball. He brings laughter and an open mind to WOW Farm.

dajoneaDajonea is a proud resident of Oakland. She thrives to do her best in life. She likes helping the environment and playing with animals. She is dedicated to her work and takes pride in it. She is a hard worker and won’t stop until the job is done. She plans to become a Veterinarian and loves cats with a passion!

Management Team

Philip Krohn is the founder and director of WOW Farm and has worked to build several projects at the intersection of art, community and environmental action. Philip is a cross-discipline artist. He studied biology at UC Berkeley and art at the School of Visual Arts.

Nick Urffer, also a worker/owner at Pedal Express, joined WOW Farm in January 2013. He is the co-founder of the RENUE Urban Gardening initiative and worked for five years as a public high school teacher in Reading, Pennsylvania. He holds a Masters in Art Education from Kuuztown University of Pennsylvania.

Kasandra was born in Oakland and lives with both of her parents. She loves Spanish food. A junior at Met West High School, Kasandra’s goal is to graduate high school and go to college. Her favorite subject is world history, because she likes to learn about the past.Kasandra was born in East Oakland and moved to West Oakland in 2007.  She joined WOW in 2012 when it launched this youth program and stayed on the team this year as Assistant Farm Manager. Her interests include writing poetry and learning about fashion. She loves the outdoor and earthy spaces. She brings a hard work ethic and humor to WOW Farm.

Patricia Johnson is the founder and director of Game Theory Academy. Prior to founding GTA, Patricia worked at Pacific News Service/New America Media, where she wrote the business plan for a successful revenue-generating project and launched two youth media programs for at-risk youth. Patricia received an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
